You’ve decided that nothing could be more romantic than having a palm tree, bougainvillea, and the cerulean blue of the Pacific Ocean as the backdrop for your wedding. No matter if it’s a Tuscany hillscape, or the rolling hills of a Nothern California vineyard, you’re not alone.
The popularity of destination weddings has skyrocketed in the last few decades, and its appeal continues to grow.
Having a destination wedding will make you stand out from the pack and provide ample time to bond with your family and friends, going beyond brief catch-ups. You’ll share meals and engage in various activities, from golf to yoga, creating a delightful camp-like atmosphere.
For a bride and groom feeling paralyzed by a sprawling guest list, a destination wedding can also be a welcome solution. Not only can you anticipate more declines, but you’ll also find it easier to explain your decision to keep the celebration small and intimate.
Planning a Destination Wedding means that you’ll have a lot of information to convey in your invitations. A pocket folder invitation, trifold, or a unique flat invitation with multiple inserts works best.
And your announcement starts with your Save the Dates, which is highly recommended if you’re having a Destination Wedding.
You should send them out 9/12 months prior to the wedding date. The earlier the better. For a destination wedding over a holiday weekend or during the high season, it’s not unusual to send save-the-date cards a year in advance.
Remember to include a link to your wedding website where you keep the information updated for your guests, such as details on travel and hotel information, typical weather for that time of the year, as well as times, locations, and suggested attire for any other wedding-related events, from welcome cocktails to a post-wedding brunch.
Your wedding invitations should reflect your wedding theme and vibe, capturing the essence of the couple’s personality. Most importantly, your wedding invitations should serve as a precious memory of one of the most important days of your life. We are here for you if you want a wedding invitation that is more than just paper and ink and will become a cherished keepsake.
The wording on your wedding invitation holds significant importance when it comes to setting the tone of the formality of your wedding and reflecting the personality of you as a couple.

But first, below is what you should include on your wedding invitation if you’re having a Destination Wedding:
The destination: Tell your guests where in the world they’re going and include the country and city on your wedding invitations.
The wedding venue: Now that your guests know the location of your wedding you can get into the details. As happens with non-destination wedding invitations, you’ll want your guests to know the exact address of your venue. We recommend including the full address below the name of your wedding venue.
The wedding date: The wedding date should be very clear because you don’t want anyone misinformed about the wedding date. I always recommend to my couples to skip the numeral style (example: 09.21.2024) and fully write out the date (i.e. Saturday, September 21, 2024 or Saturday, September Twenty-first, 2024)
The time: Includes the specific hour followed by AM/PM or use the 24-hour clock. You don’t want anyone being tardy to your party.
The RSVP deadline: Typically, you’ll ask for your guests’ attendance twelve weeks in advance, as opposed to six for a non-destination wedding. Ensure your RSVP deadline is clearly listed on your RSVP card.
The accommodations info: Provide details to assist your guests in arranging their accommodations. Include a list of recommended resorts or hotels for booking, and specify if there are reserved rooms under your name. Include info such as airport(s) for flying into and whether guests need to arrange their own rental car or if a shuttle service is provided.
The Wedding Website URL: Wedding websites serve as valuable resources for updated information about your destination wedding that may not fit on the invitations. Include the URL at the bottom of your wedding invitation card or on an additional insert so that your guests can access additional and, most importantly, updated information.
Additional Events: A destination wedding often extends beyond the main event, encompassing three or more days of shared experiences. Whether it’s a welcome cocktail reception, a post-wedding brunch, or other activities, ensure that your guests are informed, included, and prepared for the full celebration.
The attire: Including the dress code on your wedding invitations is essential, especially for a destination wedding. Providing this info will avoid questions from your guests and ensure that they dress according to your event, the weather, location, and formality.
